about the identity of a person
who presumes to talk about
such a personal and important
subject as the sex life of a Christian.
It is only natural to wonder about the identity of a person who presumes to talk about such a personal and important subject as the sex life of a Christian; even more so when on some things I take a position different than the established wisdom within much of Christianity.
In short, I am a Born Again, Spirit-filled Christian with rather conservative beliefs. I live in a medium sized city in North America. (How’s that for being vague?) I believe that being a Christian means putting our faith in Christ for our salvation and accepting a set of Biblical beliefs, but it is so much more than that. It also means having a life changing encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. I know because I had my own conversion experience while I was still a young child. I have walked with God now for 50+ years.
I am also an ordained minister. From a young age I was blessed to work in almost every position in the church, from janitor to senior pastor. In my professional life I have been privileged to serve as Pastor of several churches over the years. In both my counselling and pulpit ministry as much as I can and as the Lord leads I share the truths these websites present. If you have questions and/or are struggling with these matters, I would be glad to hear from you.
I have had a wide and varied experience in various streams of the Holy Spirit and in some measure been blessed by them all. I have also visited mainline and liturgical churches and been blessed by their rich heritage.
I am very happily married and have children and many grandchildren.
Our Little Secret
But no one in my life knows that I write on sexual matter and have these websites. To protect my identity I write using a pseudonym. I chose Adam because it means "Man" and I believe I am called of God to be one voice among many calling men (and women) to embrace their God given sexuality, to see their body, and especially their genitals, as a gift from God - a blessing not a curse. I chose Turner because I want to do nothing less than be used of God to change the minds of men and women about things like masturbation, oral sex, and nudity. I want to see the tide of error and religious rhetoric turned. I want Christians to reject old notions and to understand and embrace Biblical truth. Big task I know, but I can do my own little part.
The Ultimate Authority
While I respect those who serve the church in positions of authority I also believe that when they teach things contrary to the Word of God we are free to disagree, without being divisive. The Holy Spirit has been given to the both the church and to individual Christians to lead and guide us into all truth. The Word and the Spirit agree and at no time will the Holy Spirit lead us to do something that is contrary to the revealed will of God as found in His Word.
Fortunately, separate from rightfully preaching against obvious sexual sins, few church leaders make their personal position on private sexual matters an issue that determines whether you are welcome in a local church. And most of us are discrete about our private sexual practices.
I pray that these modest efforts at sharing Biblical truth will be a blessing and that those who read will benefit. More than anything I want to provoke the Body of Christ to think about these very personal and very intimate matters in new and fresh ways.
Over the years too much faulty reasoning and bad theology have been applied to the topic of sexuality. It is time for a change. And change most often begins when we dare to doubt established wisdom. It comes when we have the courage to ask risky questions.
The Appointed Time for Freedom
Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habbakuk 2: 2 - 3
Now is the appointed time for freedom.
Sincerely, in Christ,
